釹 (Neodymium)1. See "钕" (Dysprosium).Noun: (Neodymium, Nd) A chemical element with atomic number 60. It is one of the rare earth metal elements, belonging to the lanthanide series. It is silvery-white, soft, malleable, and chemically active. It is soluble in dilute acids. In air, it turns gray-white and forms oxides, so it must be stored in inert gases or oil to prevent corrosion or rusting. It reacts violently with hot water, releasing hydrogen. It is widely used in laser materials, such as neodymium glass, and is also used in the manufacture of optical glass, colored ceramics, glass, enamel, and special alloys.
